  2. Back in January 2011, a near and dear loved one, Vivian Rivera passed away from breast cancer. Leading up to her last days, she continued to speak life to others that were recently diagnosed. She was determined to share her story with others and be there for them even while going through her own treatments. Life did not seem to stop for Vivian as I remember it after being diagnosed, but truly strived for new experiences and to live to the fullest for as long as she could. I love what I have experienced through the memoires and stories through friends and family; which truly inspires me to do better for not only myself but others.

After speaking with Christine (Vivian’s daughter, my fiancĂ©’) and finding out, she actually did this 5 boro bike tour before passing I knew the Charitable partner and riding for Vivian was truly meant to be. With that I said I choose First Descents, to represent on my bike tour. FIRST DESCENTS offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.

With that said, my goal is to raise $1,000 in Vivian Rivera’s name to donate to the First Descents organization and ride with them on May 5th 2013 while honoring Vivian, as she once did this bike tour as well.
Any donations or promotion would truly be appreciated on the shows behalf. Thank you truly. ~Chris Hostos
